Setting Up Organizations on my.sonatype.com

my.sonatype.com is a self-service hub for creating and configuring organizations with Sonatype product licenses.

Owners and Admins can manage the organization by going to Settings → Organizations, and selecting the organization.

The following sections detail how to manage your Organization, Members, Member Roles, and more. Expand the section appropriate for your deployment:

Organization Deletion Restriction

Organizations with active Cloud products cannot be deleted from my.sonatype.com. Deleting an organization is permanent and removes access to associated tenants and data. If you need to delete an organization, contact Sonatype Support.

Sonatype Cloud – Using my.sonatype.com

Sonatype automatically creates an Organization for new Sonatype Cloud customers and associates it with your license.

Shortly after you purchase a Sonatype Cloud license, you’ll receive an email with your Organization details and a sign-in link for my.sonatype.com. Select this link to get started.

Inviting Organization Members

To invite new members to your Organization, take the following steps:

  1. In my.sonatype.com, navigate to Settings → Organizations, and select the Organization you'd like to manage.

  2. Select the Members tab.

  3. Select Invite Members; then, input the email addresses (required) of the members you want to invite.

  4. Select Send Invitations.

The invited member will receive a welcome email with instructions for signing up for my.sonatype.com. Once that person creates an account with the specified email address, they'll automatically be added to your Organization.

Managing Member Roles

When members are invited to join an Organization, they default to the Member role. After they accept the invitation, Owners and Admins can change the role of each member or remove them by selecting the cogwheel to the right of their info in the Members section.

Review the table below for more information about the available roles and their privileges:

Role Description Privileges
Member All users belonging to an organization have this role.
This is the lowest privilege level.

Admin This role can be assigned to multiple Organization members. - All privileges of the Member role

- Manage the list of members belonging to the Organization

- Assign the Admin role to other Organization members

Owner This is the role assigned to the user who first creates an organization.
This is the highest privilege level.
- All privileges of the Admin role

- Delete the Organization if it does not have active SaaS products

- Assign another Organization member as new Owner

Viewing Your Licensed Sonatype Cloud Products

Sonatype Cloud customers can see their Organization's licensed Sonatype solutions and renewal dates by following these steps:

  1. In my.sonatype.com, go to Settings → Organizations, and select the Organization for which you wish to see licensed products.

  2. Select the Products tab.

In this Products tab, you’ll see each licensed Sonatype solution and its renewal date.

Downloading Your Sonatype Cloud Product License

Owners and Admins can download an existing license by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Licenses tab.

  3. Select the Download License button.

Managing Your Organization's Sonatype Cloud Support Contacts

Authorized support contacts are the people in your organization whom you assign to serve as the liaisons between your company and the Sonatype support team. They are chosen from the pool of existing members in your organization.

To assign support contacts:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Support Contacts tab.

  3. Select the Assign a Contact button.

  4. Select the organization member to be assigned as a support contact.

  5. Select the Assign Now button, and verify the action.

Managing Your Sonatype Cloud Organization Settings

Add or change an organization logo for light mode or dark mode, edit the organization name, and add or edit a description by going to Settings → Organizations, selecting the organization, and selecting the Settings tab.

Setting up an Identity Provider (IdP)

See Configure Identity Provider for instructions on managing access to Cloud licenses using your preferred identity provider (IdP).

Viewing Billing Information

The billing history view is available only to the account associated with the email address that purchased the Sonatype service.

Billing information in my.sonatype.com provides a self-service way to review billing history and download invoices for eligible Sonatype Cloud subscriptions.

This view is available for eligible self-service credit card subscriptions. If your organization has more than one eligible subscription, invoices for those subscriptions appear together in a single billing history table.

To view billing information:

  1. Sign in to my.sonatype.com using the account associated with the email address that purchased the Sonatype service.

  2. Go to Settings → Billing.

You can search, filter, and sort the billing history table to find specific invoices. For organizations with multiple eligible subscriptions, use the product filter to view invoices for a specific Sonatype product.

To download an invoice, find the invoice in the billing history table and select the download link. The invoice downloads as a PDF.

Self-Hosted Solutions – Using my.sonatype.com

This section explains how those using Sonatype's self-hosted solutions manage their Organizations in my.sonatype.com. This includes creating an Organization, inviting members, assigning roles and support contacts, verifying licenses, downloading license files, and updating Organization settings.

Creating an Organization

Your company is identified as an Organization within my.sonatype.com. As the account Owner, you need to create an Organization to manage your Sonatype product licenses.

To create an organization:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations.

  2. Select the Create Organization button at the top-right.

  3. Enter a name for the organization. You can also upload a light and dark mode logo, and provide a description in the respective fields. Select Next.

  4. Enter the license fingerprint. Select Next.

  5. Add email addresses to send invitations to the members of the newly created organization. Select Finish.

Adding Organization Members

Once you have an Organization, you can add members to it. When you verify your organization, we will try to integrate any existing members from our support case management system into the Organization you just created. However, you can also manually invite members into your Organization.

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Members tab.

  3. Select the Invite Members button.

  4. Add the email addresses (required) of the members you want to invite.

  5. Select Send Invitations.

Managing Member Roles

Verifying Your Self-Hosted License

You are required to verify your organization's license before you can designate your Support Contacts.

You'll be prompted to verify the license when you first create the organization. If you didn't verify it then, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Licenses tab.

  3. If you haven't verified a license yet, select Verify Now.

  4. Enter your license fingerprint into the text field. Owners and Admins can find the fingerprint from one of the following sources:

  5. The email received when the license was created.

  6. Lifecycle Self-Hosted: Open the System Preference cogwheel dropdown menu and select Product License.

  7. Nexus Repository Self-Hosted: Open the Administration cogwheel and in the left menu and navigate to System → Licensing.

  8. Select Verify License.

After a license is verified, you can view the list of products it covers in the Licenses section.

Note

You can verify additional licenses by selecting Verify Another License, entering the license fingerprint, and selecting Verify License.

Downloading Your Self-Hosted Product License

Owners and Admins can download an existing license by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Licenses tab.

  3. Select the Download License button.

Managing Your Self-Hosted Organization Support Contacts

To assign support contacts:

  1. Go to Settings → Organizations, and select the organization you want to open.

  2. Select the Support Contacts tab.

  3. Select the Assign a Contact button.

  4. Select the organization member to be assigned as a support contact.

  5. Select the Assign Now button, and verify the action.
