# Installing the Trigram Module

This section covers installing the `postgresql-contrib` package available from your Linux distribution.

The PostgreSQL user must have `CREATE` privileges on the current database.

1. Grant access using the following command:

```
   grant create on database <database_name> to <database_user>;
   ```

2. Install the `postgresql-contrib` package:

```
   sudo dnf install postgresql-contrib
   ```

3. Execute the following command to create the extension:

```
   create extension pg_trgm schema <schema>;
   ```
   
   Exclude the `schema <schema>` part when installing to the default public schema.

4. Review that the extension has been installed using the following query:

```
   select * from pg_extension;
   ```
