# Create a Hugging Face Repository

To download Hugging Face content through Nexus Repository, create a Hugging Face proxy repository. Check out [Nexus Repository Management](https://help.sonatype.com/en/repository-management.html "Repository Management") and [Repository Types](https://help.sonatype.com/en/repository-types.html "Repository Types") to learn more.

## Hugging Face Proxy Repository

Use Nexus proxy repository when you want to download packages and centralize package caching of external dependencies. To learn more, check [Proxy Repositories](https://help.sonatype.com/en/repository-types.html#proxy-repository-type "Proxy Repository Type").

To create a new Hugging Face proxy repository, take the following steps:

01. Navigate to _Settings_ → _Repository_→ _Repositories_.

02. Select _Create repository_.

03. From the list of recipes, select _huggingface (proxy)_.

04. In the form that appears, complete the required fields:

- Repository Name, for example _huggingface-proxy_
    - Remote storage URL for example [https://huggingface.co](https://huggingface.co/)
    - Blob store

05. To download gated content from Hugging Face Hub, select the _Authentication_ checkbox under _HTTP_ section.

06. Under _Authentication type_, select _Preemptive Bearer Token_.

07. Enter the access token provided by Hugging Face.

08. Select the _HTTP request settings_ checkbox and set the _Connection timeout_ to `120` seconds. Increase this value if network latency or large file sizes require a longer timeout.

09. Complete the additional fields for configurations you wish to add for creating your repository. Available configurations differ by repository format and type. See [Configurable Repository Fields](https://help.sonatype.com/en/configurable-repository-fields.html "Configurable Repository Fields") for more details.

10. Select _Create repository_.

**Note**
Sonatype recommends using NFS, EFS, or Azure file storage for optimal performance. In testing, AWS S3 and Azure Blob stores exhibited performance issues that can affect download speeds.
