Anonymous Access to Sonatype Guide

Sonatype Guide lets you explore trusted open-source component and vulnerability intelligence without signing in. Using the search experience available on the home page and in the top navigation, you can quickly find components, review public vulnerability data, and assess basic risk information.

Anonymous access is ideal for quick research, initial investigation, and early decision-making.

Search for Components or CVEs

Sonatype Guide lets you search for both components and vulnerabilities using the search bar available on the Home screen or from the Search for components or CVEs field in the top navigation. Both entry points provide the same functionality and are available without signing in.

Enter at least two characters to search for a component name or a vulnerability identifier. Sonatype Guide searches across components and vulnerabilities and displays matching results in a unified results view, where you can further explore and refine your findings.

Search Results

After you run a search, Sonatype Guide displays a results page that helps you explore, refine, and compare matching components and vulnerabilities.

At the top of the results page, Guide groups results into tabs such as:

Each tab shows a result count so you can quickly understand how many matches exist.

Filtering and Sorting Results

Search results appear as cards or rows that surface key public information such as ecosystem, latest available version, associated licenses, and high-level indicators.

You can refine results using filters in the left-hand navigation, including ecosystem, category, severity, license, and update-related filters. Use the Sort control, such as Trending or Relevance, to reorder results when you want to compare similar entries or surface the most likely matches.

Note

Some fields and insights rely on Sonatype’s proprietary research. When you attempt to access these features, Sonatype Guide displays an Unlock with a free account message and prompts you to Sign up. After you create a free account, Guide unlocks enhanced insights, additional context, and expanded result views.

Components View (Anonymous Users)

In the Components view, Sonatype Guide displays results as a list of cards that surface key publicly available information about open-source components. Each card highlights details such as the component name, ecosystem, latest available version, and associated licenses.

You can refine and organize results using the filtering and sorting controls available in the left-hand navigation and toolbar. These controls help you narrow your search and focus on components that are most relevant to your needs. Some advanced filters or insights may require signing up for a free account.

Vulnerabilities View (Anonymous Users)

In the Vulnerabilities view, Sonatype Guide displays publicly available vulnerability information as a list of entries. Each entry includes details such as the vulnerability identifier, affected ecosystem, severity, and a brief summary. This view helps you quickly understand the scope and potential impact of known vulnerabilities across different technologies.

You can refine and prioritize results using the filtering and sorting controls available in the left-hand navigation and toolbar. These tools allow you to focus on vulnerabilities that are most relevant to your investigation. Some advanced filters or enhanced insights may require signing up for a free account.

Usage Limits and Credits

Sonatype Guide allows you to explore open-source component and vulnerability information easily, while also ensuring fair and consistent access for all users. To support this, Guide applies usage limits to certain features and uses a credit-based model for accessing enhanced insights.

Anonymous usage

You can use Sonatype Guide without signing in to:

Anonymous usage is limited to public data only and does not use credits. This allows you to explore Guide and understand its capabilities before creating an account.

Free account usage

When you sign up for a free Sonatype Guide account, you receive monthly credits that provide access to advanced features beyond what is available to anonymous users, such as enhanced insights and expanded result views.

Credits reset at the start of each monthly usage cycle. After signing in, you can view your available credits and track usage by selecting the Usage option from the user menu.
