The license threat group updater will apply the latest Sonatype provided license classification to your running IQ server’s license threat groups. This will alleviate any “License Threat Group not Assigned” policy violations, in addition to keeping your license catalog up to date.

usage: java -jar ltg-updater-1.0.0.jar -s http://localhost:8070 -u
       adminUser -p adminPassword -i path/to/update.csv -d -f [-d] [-e]
       [-f] [-h] [-i <arg>] [-p <arg>] [-s <arg>] [-u <arg>]
 -d,--default          Select all default choices.
 -e,--silent           Disable all input and output to the CLI.
                       Automatically selects default choices.
 -f,--force_review     Even if default choices or silent are selected this
                       option will force the review of license changes.
 -h,--help             Prints help message.
 -i,--input <arg>      Path to CSV file of license to LTG mapping.
 -p,--password <arg>   Admin password.
 -s,--server <arg>     Url to Nexus IQ server.
 -u,--user <arg>       Admin username.

The updater currently only supports basic auth and must be supplied credentials for the Nexus IQ Admin user as it will make updates to the Root Organization LTGs. **It is recommended that users enable the -d and -f options to select both default choices and to force a review of any license LTG changes** .\

Sorry for the late answer: No, it doesn’t. The ROOT organization has the usual LTGs (Banned, Weak Copyleft, … ) All LTGs in ROOT contain at least one license.\
\
However, all organizations below ROOT do not have their own LTGs (they inherit all LTGs from ROOT).\
\

I appreciate getting regular updates for license threat groups. However, I am wondering if releasing these updates in a community thread is a proper solution. Of course one can collect all information needed by reading through this thread - but don’t you think there might be a better, more official distribution method of the update and the tool needed to integrate it?\

Hello. I agree with the comments here. As an admin of IQ, this update process is challenging due to the number of licenses in the LTG. While the version updates and the tool are useful, they do not apply to our use case, where we customize our LTG based on IT Law guidance. Currently, there is no efficient way to compare the list of licenses in the updated LTG with those configured in IQ (other than manually) to identify discrepancies and decide whether to update the policies.\
\
It would be great if you could automate this process or provide a UI feature to identify the differences between the updated list and the customer’s IQ list. If this update tool is intended to automate updates, why not integrate it into the IQ release so that policies are updated automatically when the IQ version is upgraded?\

Two weeks ago, we attempted to update the License Threat Groups in our test system. We used version 1.0.3 of the updater tool and the import file dated April 30, 2026. The tool was executed using the recommended parameters: “-d -f”.\
\
However, during the update process, we did not receive any prompts, aside from the final _`“Approve LTG updates? [Y/n]`_`”`. Specifically, there was no prompt of the form _`“Keep the existing assignment for ‘X’, assigned to ‘Y’, in organization ‘Z’? [Y/n]”`_. While all standard LTGs appeared to have been successfully updated, all licenses within our two custom LTGs had been deleted.\
\
We observed a similar behavior last year, which is why we have not updated the LTGs on our production system for some time. Unfortunately, this has now resulted in a significant number of licenses not being assigned to any LTG.\
\
Do you have any idea what could be causing this problem?\
\
